1.Accounts Payable Assistant


The Accounts Payable Assistant performs a variety of general support tasks in an accounting department including verifying the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records; updating and maintaining the Accounts Payable database; entering data into Sage 500 financial system; reconciling records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors or customers; recommending actions to resolve discrepancies; and investigating questionable data. Other major responsibilities include the following:

  • – Update and maintain the vendor database
  • – Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
  • – Code invoices and process for payment
  • – Issue checks for accounts payable
  • – 1099 maintenance
  • – Respond to all vendor inquiries
  • – Run DnB credit reports as needed
  • – Complete credit applications as needed
  • – Record journal entries
  • – Sort and distribute incoming mail
  • – Process credit card transactions
  • – Daily invoicing
  • – Track W-9’s Resale Certificates and missing AP invoices
  • – Initiate Wires/ACH
  • – Assist with other projects as needed


Ideal candidates for this position will have the following:p>

  • – High school diploma equivalent or higher (required)
  • – At least one year of Accounts Payable experience or an Associates degree in business or accounting
  • – Strong work ethic
  • – Strong organizational skills and an attention for detail
  • – Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • – At least a general skill in mathematics
  • – Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner

This position would report to Northstar’s Finance Department at our headquarters in East Longmeadow, MA.

2.Inside Sales Business Development Representative


The primary role for this position is to generate new sales opportunities for Northstar’s recycling and waste management services. The BDR would assist with:

  • – Researching prospective target organizations that would benefit from Northstar’s programs
  • – Identify decision-makers in those organizations
  • – Engage prospects in phone and email conversations designed to discover sales opportunities
  • – Gain commitment from prospects to attend brief, introductory calls and meetings with Northstar
  • – Other tasks to uncover sales opportunities, manage the sales process, and close business (as necessary)
  • – Consistently meet and exceed goals


Ideal candidates for this position will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent sales, communications, business management, or business administration experience.

  • – 0 to 2 years work experience (this is an entry level position)
  • – Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • – Demonstrated ability to interact with people successfully, both in person and over the phone, to lead or persuade, and overcome challenges
  • – Disciplined approach to daily activity planning, setting goals and achieving success
  • – Ability to take direction, be coached and mentored
  • – Strong web and computer skills: MS Office, desirable

The Inside Sales Business Development Representative (BDR) would report to Northstar’s headquarters in East Longmeadow, MA.

3.Sales Professional


The primary goal of this Sales position is to develop new profitable relationships through referrals, pre-scheduled phone appointments, industry events, inbound inquiries, and other opportunities to present our services.


Successful people in this role have extremely strong interpersonal skills and are great problem solvers, competitive, even-keeled, open to feedback, and can project confidence. We are also very interested in fit with our culture, as we have built a cohesive team where everyone helps each other and has fun while striving to do their best.

New Sales Professional candidates report to Northstar’s headquarters in East Longmeadow, MA.

4.Account Manager


The primary responsibility of this account management position is to manage existing relationships and daily transactions with critical business partners. Northstar Recycling Account managers are responsible for servicing their accounts quickly and efficiently, completing required reporting promptly and accurately, resolving all issues for their accounts, and consistently projecting a professional image while maintaining client satisfaction.


Northstar Recycling Account managers spend most of their time interacting with our partners on the phone or through email, so strong communication skills are required. Candidates must also be fluent in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, and previous database management experience is preferred. The position will also include some accounting functions.

Successful people in this role have extremely strong interpersonal skills, are quick learners, even-keeled, and open to feedback. Successful candidates will also be strong problem solvers, able to ensure the best service related outcomes even during difficult circumstances.

This position will be based out of Northstar Recycling’s Little Falls New York office.

5.Client Development


The primary responsibility of the Client Development position is to manage a group of Northstar Recycling clients to maximize profits and retention rates, while building strong relationships based on mutual trust and respect.  This includes analysis of pricing, materials, training, equipment, sorting procedures, collection processes, and other key details to optimize service and surpass client expectations.


Northstar Recycling Client Development Executives serve as the lead contact for a large number of clients, so strong  interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to interact with people at all levels of an organization are required.  Strong analytical skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and a large volume of daily tasks, are also necessary.

All candidates are welcome, from seasoned professionals to recent graduates.

Northstar Client Development professionals can be based throughout the country, usually after an initial training period at our East Longmeadow, MA headquarters.

6.Commodity Sales


The primary goal of the Commodity Sales Executive position is to develop and maintain relationships with the recycling outlets that purchase and process materials from our client’s manufacturing facilities. This may include responsibilities such as researching new recycling trends and technologies, attending industry tradeshows and conferences, participating in site visits, and other activities involved with identifying outlets and recycling solutions for materials.


Successful candidates for this role should have extremely strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills. They should be comfortable with conducting phone, email, and in-person negotiations and inquiries, and should have a mind for logistics.

Our headquarters are located just outside of Springfield, MA in East Longmeadow. However, remote work options may be negotiable.
